We are thrilled to host several activities during this year’s Department of the Air Force Information Technology and Cyberpower Conference. The conference kicks off on Monday, August 26th and we will have an outstanding line up of activities to engage at every age level. Check out our lineup below:
Education is the focus for Wednesday, August 28th from 830AM – 1PM, as high school and college students invade the conference to learn about all the possibilities and careers in STEM and IT with High School Education Day hosted by the local AFCEA Chapter. We will also host our annual hackathon and cyber challenge, innovateDAFITC simultaneously with Education Day. High school students will work in teams to solve a problem and then pitch their solutions to a panel of judges. This event is hosted by SAF/CIO, AFCEA and TechMGM.
Montgomery TechLab will host an HBCU ROTC and Minority Officer Mentoring Session @2PM for AFROTC and AFJROTC units across the state. This session will feature a panel discussion and breakout sessions with current and retired, minority active duty HBCU and ROTC alumni to provide valuable insight and lessons learned for future officers. This will be held in the afternoon following Education Day onsite at the conference.
Happening in downtown Montgomery at Alley Station & Rooftop, this day will wrap up with a high energy HBCU and Greek Mixer from 5 – 8PM to network and engage with members of NPHC organizations and HBCU students, alumni and faculty. This event has quickly become a conference favorite and has grown in popularity and attendance over the past two years.
On Friday, August 30th, the I-85 Regional STEM Learning Innovation Ecosystem will host a STEM Fest for elementary students from Auburn, Tuskegee and Montgomery. This partnership with STEM NOLA brings over 60 hands on interactive stations for students to engage in various STEM activities to include electricity, drones, coding and robotics.
